Amtico LVT laid in herringbone right through a kitchen and dining space, tight to the island and the doorways.
Carrying one carpet through the bedrooms, stairs and landing makes an upstairs feel calm and joined up. The trick is planning the seams and the direction of the pile so the colour looks the same in every room.
The old carpet and grippers come up first and the floor underneath is checked. New gripper goes down around the edges, then a good underlay, which makes the biggest difference to how soft the carpet feels and how long it lasts.
The carpet is stretched tight so it will not ripple later, trimmed neatly to the skirting and finished at each doorway with the right threshold. On the stairs it is fitted step by step and pulled tight over each nosing.
